I want to reading English well

I reading "independence day".This story is ,Suddely, coming the alian's spaceship.The Human doing war for world.I read this time was the story that an unconfirmed object appeared in the radar of the armed forces
I had difficult preconception about long story.but it is not so unexpectedly when I begin to read.
I think,there was some unique expression this story. I read this story and I want to learn practical English.

I'm hanging up 電話を切る　　Let's not jump the gun here 先走りするのはやめよう
I have a confession to make 告白します　sit up in bet寝ていた状態から体を起こす
